RCE Greater Phoenix aims to foster cross-sectoral collaborations to empower all learners, especially historically marginalised youth, to access high quality sustainability education, both formal and informal, and engage in meaningful learning experiences that contribute to sustainability outcomes for the region.
The BioConnect kit sparks dynamic sustainability education by guiding 6th-8th graders through the innovation of nature-inspired solutions. Students explore how organisms in the Sonoran desert have adapted to extreme environments. The kit develops key innovation skills – systems thinking, critical observation, communication, and creative problem solving.
Our founding partners are organizations in the community and at Arizona State University, who supported the initial application to be recognized as a designated Regional Center of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development by the United Nations University, which manages the Global Network of RCEs on behalf of UNESCO.
